Facilities and Activities

There are two main rooms in the nursery – Little Shoots for babies and toddlers and Little Buds for pre-school children. There is also an all-weather outdoors area well stocked with toys, slides, seesaws and other play equipment and all the children are able to use this every day.

Little Shoots is divided into two with the babies in one area and toddlers in another. It is a self-contained room with a kitchen and messy play area and the children enjoy craft and messy play activities every day.

In Little Buds, the pre-school children begin to prepare for the transition to Reception spending some time on learning numbers, and letters and sounds, including Jolly Phonics. The focus is on learning through play and the children also enjoy arts and craft activities and music and movement. There are plenty of opportunities to play in the outside space and regular trips to Packwood’s Forest School.

We are lucky to have strong links with the main school and the pre-school children benefit from excellent facilities and teaching from specialist staff, including a weekly PE session and swimming lessons in Packwood’s indoor heated swimming pool during the summer term. There is also the option to take part in ballet, ball skills and drama clubs run by staff from the main school.

All the children enjoy story time sessions, one with Packwood Acorns’ Reception class teacher, Mrs. Wall, and one with Packwood Headmaster, Mr. Fox
