Healthy Eating
At Happy faces:
- We encourage a variety of foods from all food groups, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and dairy.
- We promote appropriate portion sizes for young children to promote healthy growth and prevent overeating.
- We encourage Hydration: Emphasising the importance of water as the primary drink.
- We aim to create a happy mealtime environment that encourages both social interaction and healthy eating habits.
At Happy Faces, we carry out:
- Cooking Activities: We involve children in simple cooking tasks, such as bread making or fruit kebabs. Helping to foster interest in healthy foods.
- Gardening: We encourage growing fruits and vegetables to teach children about food sources. The children grow and cook the produce.
- Nutrition Education: We provide age-appropriate information about the benefits of healthy eating.
At Happy Faces, we offer breakfast, morning and afternoon snacks, lunch, and tea.
Lunch is prepared for us in the main school kitchens. The youngest children eat in the nursery whilst the pre-schoolers join Packwood Acorns in the main school dining hall.
Children may choose milk or water to drink.
We have a Level 5 Health and Hygiene rating.
